Four-Run 12th Sinks Seahawks

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Highlighted by a three-run homer by Ben Parker in a four-run top of the 12th inning, William & Mary evened its Coastal Athletic Association series with UNCW on Saturday with an 8-4 win at Brooks Field.

The Seahawks, who remain winless in extra innings games this season at 0-5, fell back to 17-18 overall and 5-6 in the league. The Tribe upped its record to 13-21 and 7-4 in the CAA.

Copper Allen (0-1) suffered the loss for UNCW, which held a 3-0 lead until a four-run sixth by the Tribe.

Kevin Jones led UNCW with two hits.

UNCW tied the game in the eighth on a RBI fielder's choice by Ryker Galaska. The Seahawks had bases loaded with one following that game-tying play but failed to take the lead.

Parker finished with two hits and Christian Rush hit his fifth home run of the season, the grand slam in the sixth.

Carter Lovasz (3-3) earned the win with a season-high five innings of work. The righthander fanned nine and allowed one run on one hit and three walks.

The series concludes Sunday with a 2 p.m. start.
