Women's Golf Preview: CAA Championships

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women's golf team joins nine other teams in search of a Coastal Athletic Association crown in the 2025 CAA Championships at The Reserve Club at St. James Plantation in nearby Southport, N.C. this weekend.

The three-day tournament will be contested on the course's par-72, 5,995 layout featuring wooded wetlands, multi-level green complexes, and split fairways less than a mile from the Atlantic Ocean.

A round will be played each day beginning on Friday, Apr. 11, featuring an 8:30 a.m. start the first two days before concluding with the third round on Sunday, Apr. 13, at 8 a.m. Live results from the conference championship will be available on Clippd each day.

UNCW's Malu Brinker (4th) and Minouche Rooijmans (T-14th) are returning Seahawks who authored top 15 finishes in the CAA Championships one year ago in Southport.

The Seahawks (No. 93) enter the weekend as the third highest-ranked team in the latest Clippd rankings, behind Charleston (No. 43) and Campbell (No. 50) 

The CAA Championships is no stranger to St. James, which hosted the event seven times in eight years from 2012 to 2019 before returning in 2022. The site was also the home of the Seahawks' last two team championships (2012, 2019).

Veteran Head Coach Cindy Ho's team tied for second at St. James last season in the CAA Championships.
 
UNCW has won five CAA crowns since 2003, tied for the most by a school with former league member James Madison. The Seahawks and Dukes are even with former conference member Georgia State for the most individual champions at five each.

The winner of the team and the individual tournament will receive the CAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship that tees off in May.
