BUIES CREEK, North Carolina – Campbell used a 12-run second inning to claim the series win over UNCW in a 15-2 run-rule setback for the Seahawks in Coastal Athletic Association softball action on Saturday afternoon at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
The Camels improved to 14-7 and 2-0 in the league while the Seahawks stand 14-8 and 0-2 in the CAA.
UNCW raced out to an early 2-0 lead on sacrifice flies in the first and second innings by Maggie Pertee and Allison Corbin, respectively.
Campbell then scored 12 runs, nine earned, on seven walks, five hits and an error in the second inning to earn the win.
Campbell's Megan Gregory (3-1) picked up the win while UNCW's Taylor Barlow (3-2) recorded the loss.
The series concludes on Sunday at Noon.
