Ragin' Cajuns Edge UNCW, 6-5

LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana took advantage of a pair of UNCW errors in a three-run sixth inning to knock off the visiting Seahawks, 6-5, on Wednesday at Russo Park.

With the win, Louisiana snapped a three-game skid and improved to 6-7. The Seahawks, meanwhile, fell back to 7-6 with the loss.

Following a bunt single to open the sixth, a dropped fly ball and a throwing error on a bunt by the Seahawks led to the tying run. Connor Cuff gave Louisiana the lead, 6-4, with a two-run single off Ty Lawson (0-1), who took the loss in relief.

UNCW pushed one across in the ninth and had the bases loaded, but Riley Marcotte, Louisiana's 10th pitcher of the evening, closed out the game for his first save.

Maddux Mandino (1-0) was credited with the win coming out of the bullpen.

Luke Yuhasz finished with a pair of hits at the top of the order, including his first home run of the season for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Kevin Jones, who led the game off with his first homer of the season, Trevor Lucas and Aidan Evans had two hits apiece to lead the Seahawks.

Reliever Cooper Allen gave the Seahawks 3.1 innings of one-hit, one-run baseball and struck out a career-high four.

The Seahawks continue their road swing this weekend when they open a three-game series against the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss on Friday at 7 p.m. EST.
