WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW softball team completed a sweep of North Carolina A&T with a 6-1 win behind the complete game effort of freshman Lynsie Herman in Coastal Athletic Association action on Sunday afternoon at Boseman Field.
The Seahawks improved to 18-12 with a 4-5 league record while the Aggies fell to 7-23 and are winless in nine CAA games.
Herman (4-1) went the distance for the second time in her career with five strikeouts.
N.C. A&T's Joey Barkhimer (3-10) and Aaliyah Williams each tossed three innings and surrendered seven combined walks.
The host Seahawks tallied nine hits, including a combined five from Morgan Britt and Grace Hennessy, who each drove in a run. Shortstop Madison Biddle pushed her hit streak to five games and worked two walks.
Freshman Sierra Persinger drove in a pair on a two-run single in a three-run third inning that broke a 1-1 tie after the Aggies' Trinity Glover launched a solo home run to center field.
UNCW continues league play next weekend at Monmouth from Mar. 28-30.
