BAGWELL TOSSES PERFECT GAME!!

Freshmann needs just 80 pitches in 12-0 win at Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – UNCW freshman Cam Bagwell needed just 80 pitches to record the program's first perfect game since 1968 in the Seahawks' 12-0 run-rule win over Campbell on Sunday at Jim Perry Stadium.

The Seahawks staved off a sweep at the hands of the Camels and improved to 12-12 overall and 1-2 in the Coastal Athletic Association. The Camels, meanwhile, fell to 10-13 and 2-1.

Bagwell (4-0) fanned three and lowered his earned run average to 2.02 in his career-long seven-inning outing.

The Seahawks sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the first against Campbell starter David Rossow (2-3) and plated four runs to give Bagwell all the support he would need.

Trevor Lucas, a junior, had two hits for the Seahawks, including his second homer of the season, and drove in four runs. Freshman Brady Thompson added two hits and collected three runs batted in. UNCW piled up 13 hits in the win.

The last no-hitter in program history was in 1995 by John Babson, who held Yale hitless in a 2-0 win on Mar. 9. Jim Sanders tossed a perfect game against California University of Pennsylvania on Apr. 12, 1968.

Overall, it was the 10th no-hitter in program history and the second against Campbell. E.H. Kennedy posted a no-no
against the Camels in a 3-0 win on Apr. 24, 1989.

UNCW hosts Charleston Southern next on Mar. 25 at 6 p.m.
