Big Seventh Inning Downs Seahawks

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina struck for five runs in the seventh inning on its way to a 6-1 win over visiting UNCW on Tuesday at Springs Brooks Stadium.

The Chanticleers picked up their third straight victory and raised their record to 7-2. The Seahawks, meanwhile, had their 3-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 5-4.

CCU combined three walks by the Seahawks and a pair of hits in the seventh to erase a 1-0 deficit. A two-run double by Thorndyke highlighted the outburst.

Brock Wills had two of UNCW's five hits for the game and Trevor Lucas plated the only run with an RBI triple in the second inning.

Cyle Phelan (1-1) took the loss in relief for UNCW.

Dean Mihos and Wells Sykes collected three hits apiece for Coastal.

Matthew Potok (1-0) tossed a pair of shutout innings to earn the win in relief.

UNCW hosts Liberty beginning on Friday for a three-game series at Brooks Field.
