UNCW Finishes Strong in 79-70 Road Win at W&M

WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia – UNCW outscored William & Mary 22-7 over the final 8:43 of the game to earn a hard-fought 79-70 Coastal Athletic Association men's basketball road victory on Monday evening at Kaplan Arena.

The Seahawks (22-7, 12-4 CAA) snapped the Tribe's (17-12, 11-5) 13-game home win streak dating back to last year. The game was postponed from last Thursday due to winter weather.

UNCW's Harlan Obioha fashioned his fifth double-double of the season with a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds along with a pair of assists, one block and zero turnovers in 21 minutes.

The seven-footer was joined in double figures by Khamari McGriff with 14 points while Nolan Hodge and Donovan Newby each had 10 points.

W&M's Gabe Dorsey paced the home Tribe with 19 points while Caleb Dorsey chipped in 13 markers.

The Seahawks overcame a nine-point deficit by limiting the Tribe to 26.7 percent (4-of-15) from three-point range in the second half and a 26-14 post advantage.

UNCW built a double-digit lead three times in the first half and were ahead 39-31 with 3:35 left in the opening period but W&M closed the half with eight unanswered to even the score, 39-all, entering the second half.

The Seahawks close out their three-game road swing on Thursday at Campbell at 7 p.m.
