Bagwell Stifles UNCA As UNCW Finishes Sweep

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW freshman starter Cam Bagwell tossed six innings of three-hit, shutout baseball as the Seahawks finished off a sweep of UNC Asheville with a 7-1 win on Sunday at Brooks Field.

The Seahawks pushed their record to 5-3 with the win while the Bulldogs slumped to 3-4 with their fourth straight setback.

Bagwell (1-0) allowed three singles, walked one and fanned three in picking up the win.

Brock Wills and Tanner Thach collected two hits apiece and Cole Nelson slugged his second home run in as many days.

UNCA starter Daylinh Nguyen-Brown (0-1) took the loss, allowing five runs, three earned, on five hits over four innings.

UNCW broke open a 1-0 game with six runs in the middle three innings.

UNCW visits Coastal Carolina on Feb. 25 for a 4 p.m. start in Conway, S.C.
