UNCW Takes Down Ranked Bulldogs, 6-2

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW struck for six runs in the bottom of the first inning and Connor Marshburn delivered six no-hit innings as the Seahawks knocked off nationally-ranked Georgia, 6-2, on Sunday at Brooks Field.

The Seahawks improved to 2-2 with the home win while the Bulldogs dropped to 3-1 to open the season.

Marshburn (1-0), a sophomore who was making his first career start, walked two, hit one and tied his career-high with seven strikeouts.

UNCW sent 11 hitters to the plate in the first inning and Bryan Arendt's two-run double highlighted the early outburst. Arendt finished with a pair of doubles.

Georgia ended the no-hit bid with a lead off homer by Devin Obee in the top of the eighth inning. The Bulldogs mustered just two hits on the afternoon.

UGA starter Zach Brown (0-1) took the loss after allowing all six runs in the first inning.

The Seahawks visit Duke on Feb. 18 for a 4 p.m. start.
