WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's basketball program closed out a memorable 2025 calendar year with a 65-53 victory over visiting Drexel in its Coastal Athletic Association home opener on Wednesday night at Trask Coliseum.

The Seahawks are one of four teams to start league play 2-0 and stand 13-2 overall. The Dragons dropped to 0-2 in the CAA and are 6-9 overall.

UNCW's Nolan Hodge led all scorers with 17 points and fellow senior Noah Ross achieved his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high-tying 11 rebounds. Madison Durr added 10 markers off the bench.

Drexel's Eli Bears (14) and Garfield Turner (13) combined for 27 points for the Dragons, who were held to 32.7 percent (18-of-55) shooting.

A physical first half ended with a 27-22 Seahawk advantage, who raced out at the start of the second half with 10 straight points following a Beard three-pointer to build a double-digit advantage, 37-25, with 16:19 to go.

UNCW matched a season-low with six turnovers, including one in the first 28:32 of play.

The Seahawks close out the first week of league play on Saturday night at 7 p.m. against Hampton.
