Seahawks Earn 81-73 Road Victory at Radford

RADFORD, Virginia – The UNCW men's basketball team used a 13-3 run in the first half to build a double-digit lead to earn a Friday night 81-73 win over host Radford at the Dedmon Center.

The Seahawks (4-1) earned their third straight win while the Highlanders (2-5) dropped their fifth straight contest. It represented the first win for the Seahawks in the Dedmon Center in five tries.

UNCW senior Nolan Hodge scored a team-high 18 points to go with seven rebounds and splashed at least four three-pointers for the third time this season. Gavin Walsh established a new season-high of 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Christian May and Madison Durr each added 11 points. Noah Ross scored 10 points in the second half to give the Seahawks at least four in double figures for every win this season.

Radford's Del Jones (27) and Dennis Parker, Jr. (26) combined for 53 of the team's 73 points.

A Hodge three-pointer made it 24-13 Seahawks with 8:02 in the first half before the Highlanders drained a pair of three's and sank a layup to make it a single-possession game, 24-21, with five minutes to go before halftime.

Hodge and Walsh then rattled off six points in a minute to push the lead back to nine and carried a 31-27 lead into the break.

The Seahawks shot 69.2 percent (18-of-26) after halftime to outscore the Highlanders 50-46 in the second half to seal the win.
