Hodge Notches Double-Double in Wednesday Win

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Senior Nolan Hodge notched a double-double of 14 points and a season-high 10 rebounds to pace four UNCW men's basketball players in double figures in a 70-57 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday at the Live Oak Bank Holiday Classic at Trask Coliseum.

The Seahawks (5-1) pushed their win streak to four games in their first-ever meeting against the Lions (1-5).

Senior Christian May scored 13 points (11 after halftime), while seniors Madison Durr and Greedy Williams each had 12 points to join Hodge in double figures. UNCW has had at least four double-digit scorers in every win this season.

Southeastern's Jeremy Elyzee scored 14 of his game-high 21 points in the first half.

Trailing 33-27 at halftime, and by as much as 12 in the first half, the Seahawks remained undefeated at home with a second-half rally, taking their first lead since the game's early minutes with 13:45 left to play on five straight points by May, capped by a corner-three-pointer that sparked a Southeastern timeout.

UNCW never trailed from that point, including ending a game with a 12-5 spurt. The Lions shot 26.7 percent (8-of-30) in the second half, including nine minutes without a field goal.

The Live Oak Bank Holiday Classic continues on Friday when the Seahawks host Navy at 3 p.m. The two schools have not played since they were founding members of the CAA from 1985-91.
