Seahawks Surge Past Pirates, 85-60

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Senior guard Christian May erupted for 20 of his season-high 22 points in the second half, and senior guards Greedy Williams and Madison Durr combined for 17 assists to lead the UNCW men's basketball team to an 85-60 win over visiting East Carolina on Tuesday night before a sold-out Trask Coliseum.

The Seahawks improved to 3-1 in 2025-26 with their fifth straight win at home vs. East Carolina, who dipped to 2-2 this season.

May's game-high tally came off a career-high-tying six three-pointers, all coming after the Seahawks' 42-30 halftime lead. Senior guard Noah Ross also recorded a season-high of 16 points on a career-high-tying three trifectas. Post players Gavin Walsh (season-high 13 points) and Patrick Wessler (12) completed four players in double figures.

Williams, who was one point shy of a double-double, became the first Seahawk since Mike Okauru in 2019 to fashion a 10-assist game, his career-high, while Durr also equaled his career-high with seven assists.

The Seahawks shot an even 50 percent from both the field (25-of-50) and three-point range (14-of-28) while holding the Pirates to 33.3 percent (21-of-63) from the floor and 28.0 percent (7-of-25) from triple.

ECU built a 22-16 lead with nine minutes to go in the first half before UNCW flipped the script with a 19-2 stretch that included points from five different players, four of whom connected on at least one three-pointer, to take a double-digit lead, 35-24, at the under-four timeout.

May's second-half eruption from beyond the arc was capped by back-to-back treys with under eight minutes to play to push the Seahawks' lead to a game-high 28 points, 78-50.

In total, seven Seahawks scored at least five points and six hauled in five or more rebounds in the well-rounded team effort.

The Seahawks travel to Radford for a road contest on Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
