Longwell Strikes Twice To Lead Seahawks, 4-1

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Led by a pair of goals by Hailey Longwell, UNCW marched past Hampton, 4-1, on Senior Day in Coastal Athletic Association women's soccer action on Sunday at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

The Seahawks, who lead the South Division with 13 points and a 4-0-1 record, improved to 8-3-2 on the season. The Pirates, meanwhile, dropped to 0-5 in league play and 5-8-1 overall with the road loss.

For Longwell, it was a career-high two goals and her fourth and fifth of the season. She has scored in three straight matches.

Joining Longwell in the scoring column were Reese Bodas and Lindsay Lenhard.

Bodas opened the scoring in the 30th minute off a feed from Kayla Adams.

Longwell scored the next two in the 52nd and 74th minutes. Rachel Fry notched the assist on the first goal and Abbey Pierson and Alex Tsumas picked up assists on the second salvo.

Lenhard capped the scoring in the 76th minute off feeds from Ayanna Parker and Pierson.

Hampton's Nylah Jennings denied the clean sheet for UNCW with a strike in the 87th minute, with Alvine Dah-Zossu picking up the assist.

UNCW finished with a 27-3 shot advantage, including 12 on frame.

The Seahawks next host William & Mary on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. in a key South Division match at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.
