WILMINGTON, N.C. – With a 2-0 win against Hofstra on Thursday night, UNCW women's soccer became the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association South Division Champions, earning one of the No. 1 seeds for the 2025 CAA Championship.
For the Seahawks, it is their first South Division crown since the 2020 season, which was shortened and played in the spring of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the 2025 division title secured, the Seahawks will host a CAA semifinal game on Nov. 2.
UNCW increased its unbeaten streak to seven matches, moving to 10-3-2 overall and 6-0-1 in the CAA South Division. The Seahawks lead all teams in the conference with 19 points during league play and remain the only unbeaten team in league play.Â
With the loss, Hofstra fell to 5-3-7 overall and 2-2-3 in the CAA,Â
In the 10th minute, Ava Vaughan put the Seahawks on the board with her third goal of the season, scoring off assists from Hailey Longwell and Allie Planeaux.Â
Vaughan has now scored in back-to-back matches, and Longwell has recorded at least one point in her last five appearances.
Moments later, in the 12th minute, junior defender Rachel Fry netted the first goal of her career, scoring on a shot from outside the 18-yard box after Hofstra cleared a cross by Ava Chuderewicz.
Fry became the 11th different goal scorer for the Seahawks in 2025, matching their most in a single season since the 2016 campaign.
UNCW face Stony Brook (10-4-1, 5-2 CAA), who is tied for the CAA North Division lead, on Sunday, Oct. 19, at noon.Â
