Men's Soccer Drops 3-0 Verdict to #2 NC State

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Second-ranked NC State used Donavan Phillip's three-point game to hand the UNCW men's soccer team a 3-0 setback on Wednesday night before a crowd of 2,463 fans at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

The Wolfpack improved to 8-0-2 overall while the Seahawks (3-4-2) saw their three-game home win streak come to a close in the second-highest attended game in the UNCW Soccer Stadium's history.

UNCW fashioned a double-digit shot total for the ninth straight game against NC State's game-high 16. Both teams recorded seven shots in the second half.

The Wolfpack struck first with a 13th-minute goal by Donavan Phillip, aided by Taig Healy and Tommy.

The 1-0 advantage carried deep into the second half when Caden Tolentino added an insurance marker with assists by Tommy and Phillip. Riley Moloney connected on a free kick with 90 seconds to go in the game to seal the 3-0 verdict.

UNCW next travels to William & Mary for a 7 p.m. contest on Saturday.
