Men's Hoops Breaks Away from North Carolina A&T

GREENSBORO, North Carolina – The UNCW men's basketball team closed the first half on a 15-3 run to pull away from host North Carolina A&T with a 83-59  victory on Thursday night at the Corbett Sports Center.

The Seahawks pushed their win streak to a season-high five games and stand 17-5 and 7-2 in the Coastal Athletic Association. The Aggies slipped to 4-19 and 0-10 in the league.

UNCW has now shot 50 percent or better in four straight games for the first time since December of 2007. The Seahawks have surpassed 80 points in five straight games for the second time since the turn of the century (seven straight games in 2016-17).

Five Seahawks reached double figures due in part to 23 team assists, the most of the Siddle-era vs. a Division I school. UNCW's Khamari McGriff (16), Bo Montgomery (15) and Sean Moore (15) combined for 46 points while Nolan Hodge delivered 12 points in his return to hometown Greensboro and Donovan Newby followed with 11.

The Aggies' Jahnathan Lamothe (20) and Nikolaos Chitikoudis (16) combined for 36 points for the Aggies.

With the game tied 18-all at the 9:35 mark before halftime the Seahawks scored 24 of the first half's final 31 points, including a 15-3 stretch over the last 4:24 to take a 42-25 lead into the break.

UNCW returns home on Saturday vs. Stony Brook at 7 p.m.
