Seahawks Turn Back Tribe in Monday Matinee

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW guard Bo Montgomery's career-high 24 points highlighted four Seahawks in double figures who earned an 85-74 men's basketball win over William & Mary before a sold-out Trask Coliseum and a nationally televised audience on Monday afternoon.

The Seahawks (14-5, 4-2 CAA), who shot a season-high 50 percent (28-of-56) against a Division I opponent, handed the Tribe (11-8, 5-1) their first league setback of the year and snapped W&M's six-game win streak.

Montgomery shot 8-of-14 from the field with seven rebounds and three assists. Donovan Newby added 18 points while Khamari McGriff (12) and Harlan Obioha (10) combined for 22 points down low.

The Tribe's Gabe Dorsey paced the visitors with 18 points and Kyle Pulliam contributed 12 points in 17 minutes.

UNCW neutralized an early 8-4 W&M lead with a 14-3 run to make it 18-11 with 12:29 in the first half and extended its lead to double-digits, 37-27, at the 4:54 mark in the first half. The Seahawks carried a 43-37 advantage into halftime.

The Seahawks led the entirety of the second half by as many as 15 points down the stretch and made 12 free throws in the last three minutes for the win.
