WILMINGTON, N.C. – Hitting .291 as a team, Elon secured a weekend sweep of UNCW on Sunday with a straight-set win over the Seahawks in Coastal Athletic Association volleyball action on Sunday at Hanover Hall.
Elon pushed its record to 8-7 overall on the season and 2-2 in the league. The Seahawks saw their records dip to 3-8 and 0-4.
Cameron Lainer of Elon finished with a match-high 14 kills and hit .500 on the match. The Phoenix combined to hit .291 as a team, including .364 in the final set.
Sarah Thompson's nine kills were a team-high for the Seahawks.
Grace Melnick finished with six total blocks, including three solo.
The Seahawks visit Delaware on Oct. 5-6 for a pair of 1 p.m. starts.
