WILMINGTON, North Carolina – A trio of Seahawks – Emily Bowbliss, Kayla Burroughs and Lexi Vegoda – all scored on their Senior Day as the UNCW women's soccer team was victorious, 3-1, over Drexel on Sunday afternoon at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.
Bowbliss (18') and Vegoda (22') struck within four minutes of one another in the opening half to provide the Seahawks (3-6-3, 1-2-1 CAA) a two-goal cushion.
Vegoda aided Bowbliss' second goal in as many games along with freshman Allie Planeaux while first-year Ava Chuderewicz provided the helper from a corner service on Vegoda's score.
The Dragons (3-5-2, 1-1-1 CAA) sliced the UNCW lead in half roughly three minutes later on an unassisted score by Liv Brocious as the two teams played to 2-1 in the first half.
Burroughs would push UNCW's advantage back to two goals midway through the second half on a breakaway goal from the pass forward by freshman Ava Vaughan as a large Seahawk crowd erupted in celebration.
UNCW has earned CAA points in both contests this week and will look to continue the trend on Thursday at Hampton at Noon.
The Seahawks also honored Summer Beesley, Ainsley Norr, Makenna Nunez, Ayla Vaneus and Sophia Zinn in addition to the trio of goal scorers in a pregame Senior Day ceremony.
