WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia – An early William & Mary goal keyed a 2-0 setback for the UNCW women's soccer team in Coastal Athletic Association action on Sunday afternoon at the Martin Family Stadium at the Albert-Daly Field.
The Tribe (7-3, 2-0 CAA) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 14th minute on an unassisted goal by Nora Green-Orset, the first goal of the season for the junior midfielder.
William & Mary carried its lead into halftime despite the Seahawks (2-6-2, 0-2 CAA) holding a 6-3 shot advantage through the first 45 minutes of play.
Junior forward Ivey Crain tacked on her fourth goal of the season in the 75th minute with assists from Tribe teammates Marisa McClure and Gabriella Kurtas in the second half.
Goalkeepers Morgan Hobbs of UNCW and Jazzy Lorenz of William & Mary combined for nine saves in the game that concluded with 21 total shots.
UNCW resumes CAA play on Thursday at Charleston at 7 p.m.
