Chappell Sets Career-HIgh In Kills For UNCW

BOSTON, Mass. – Emma Chappell posted a career-high 12 kills and Sarah Thompson chipped in a season-best 13, but UNCW fell in four sets in its Coastal Athletic Association opener at Northeastern on Saturday at Chabot Gymnasium.

The Huskies snapped a four-match skid to improve to 3-6 on the season while the Seahawks dropped to 3-5.

Thompson, who crafted a double-double with 11 digs, and Chappell paced the offense for the Seahawks, who finished with a .174 hitting average.

Defensively, Grace Melnick posted a season-high nine blocks while Liv Womble added five in addition to seven kills.

The Seahawks staved off a sweep with a 25-19 win in set three.

Led by Kinley Graves' 15 kills, a match-high, the Huskies hit .243 on the afternoon.

The series concludes on Sunday with a 2 p.m. start.
