Men's Soccer Ties South Florida, 1-1

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Freshman Christian Acevedo's penalty kick goal in the second half aided the UNCW men's soccer team in its 1-1 draw against visiting South Florida on Monday night at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

The Seahawks remained unbeaten on the new season at 1-0-2 while the Bulls stand 1-1-2 in 2024.

Acevedo became the third UNCW player in as many games to achieve their first career goal. The Orlando, Fla., native drilled in a penalty kick into the upper-left portion of the goal to give the Seahawks a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute.

UNCW maintained its advantage until the 77th minute when Lovro Kostanjsek tied the game on a cross from Jalen Anderson, with Gunnar Studenhofft also assisting.

The Seahawks next travel to play East Tennessee State for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday in Johnson City, Tenn.
