Women's Soccer Falls To Visiting ECU, 3-0

WILMINGTON, N.C. – A first-half goal by Kylie Alvarez gave East Carolina a lead it would not relinquish as UNCW fell to the visiting Pirates, 3-0, in women's soccer action on Sunday at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

ECU improved to 3-0-2 while the Seahawks slid to 2-3-1.

Alvarez's first goal of the season came 14:38 into the contest off a cross from the left flank by Lindsey Aiken.

ECU added second-half goals from Sydney Schnell and Emma Sheehan, both their second goals of the season, to post a 3-0 final.

UNCW's best scoring chance came in the waning seconds of the first half as Ayanna Parker worked through the ECU defense, but Maeve English turned the shot aside as the horn sounded.

The Seahawks host High Point in another non-conference match on Sept. 8 at 1 p.m.
