Scalf Joins UNCW Athletics In Special Assistant Role

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW Director of Athletics Michael Oblinger has announced the addition of former Seahawk head baseball coach Mark Scalf as a special assistant to the Athletics Director for the 2024-25 year.

"Mark Scalf brings over 40 years of experience in college athletics and we're excited to have that knowledge in the department as we continue to grow," said Oblinger.

Scalf will serve as an advisor to the department for a variety of areas including fund raising and community outreach.

Scalf returns to the department after last serving as head coach of the baseball program for 28 seasons before retiring following the 2019 season. During his tenure as the program's leader, he helped with several major facility projects including the renovation of the Fisher Field House, the E. Marvin Johnson Indoor Training Facility and the covered bullpen and hitting facility.

"UNCW has always been special to me, and I'm honored to have the opportunity to assist as the school and athletics department continue to grow," said Scalf.
