WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Seven UNCW women's golf student-athletes have been recognized as All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) for the 2023-24 academic year.
UNCW's Nicole Adam, Hannah Altman, Malu Brinker, Mallory Fobes, Victoria Levy, Minouche Rooijmans and Deborah Spair are listed among 1,497 student-athletes across the country who received the prestigious honor. To earn All-American Scholar accolades, a player must compile at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and compete in a minimum of 50 percent of their team's rounds.
"I'm so proud of our players for their tremendous dedication in the classroom and on the course," said UNCW Head Coach Cindy Ho. "This is the most All-Scholars we've had in a year, so it speaks volumes of their work ethic and our amazing academic support staff and professors."Â
Adam recorded a 75.57 average in 21 rounds and seven tournaments as a senior. The Pinehurst, N.C., product authored three rounds below par this season, including two one-unders at the Landfall Tradition, and finished tied for 10th with a 76-78-78=232 scorecard at the CAA Championships.
Altman played 16 rounds with a 76.19 average. The 5-7 sophomore opened the season with an even-par 71 score in the first round of the Golfweek Fall Challenge and fired a one-under in the second round of the Clemson Invitational.
Brinker, who returned from injury to play 27 rounds with a 75.19 scoring average, earned CA All-Tournament Team status after finishing fourth at the 2024 CAA Championships in Southport last April.
Fobes, a four-time All-Coastal Athletic Association First-Teamer, authored a school single-season best 72.89 scoring average across nine tournaments and 27 rounds in 2023-24. The fifth-year earned three top-10 finishes this season, highlighted by a win at the 2023 Golfweek Fall Challenge last September.
Levy, who earned WGCA honors for the second straight year, competed in 26 rounds as a redshirt sophomore, including 10 rounds of par or better. She opened the year with a share of second place at the Golfweek Fall Challenge and concluded her season with a tie for first place in the Women's National Golf Invitational.
Rooijmans received the first WGCA All-American Scholar distinction of her career after a freshman season in which she played in 27 rounds with a 74.83 scoring average. The Eersel, Netherlands, native totaled three top-15 finishes including a share of 14th place at the CAA Championships.
Spair, a redshirt sophomore, is a WGCA All-American Scholar for the third straight year. The Memphis transfer played in 15 rounds across five tournaments with a 78.13 scoring average.
