UNCW Celebrates Senior Day With 4-0 Win

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW celebrated Senior Day with a 4-0 win over visiting South Carolina State on Sunday at the UNCW Tennis Complex.

The Seahawks upped their record to 12-5 with their sixth consecutive victory while the Bulldogs fell to 10-6. With the win in the home finale for the season, UNCW's seniors fashioned a 42-6 record at the courts, affectionally known as the Bird Cage.

The Senior class of Reece Falck, Gabe Hurtado, Drew Broadstreet and Beka Rasamatov did not lose a Coastal Athletic Association regular season match, captured three CAA titles, and made three NCAA Regional appearances.

"Today it was a privilege to honor our four seniors in front of a large crowd of Seahawk fans," said UNCW Head Coach Mait Dubois. "This group of seniors has been the model of consistency and excellence being undefeated in CAA play over their entire careers here thus far. This group has been very special in our program, and I am glad we got a chance to demonstrate how much they have meant to us.  Thank you to everyone who came out and supported these great young men."

UNCW secured the doubles point behind a tie-breaker win by Falck and Harold Huens.

In singles, Falck, Hurtado and Trey Mallory won their matches in straight sets.

The Seahawks close out the regular season with two matches on the road next week. UNCW opens that swing on Apr. 11 at Old Dominion with a 1 p.m. start.
