Men's Tennis Holds Off Rival Campbell

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW held off Coastal Athletic Association rival Campbell, 4-3, on Friday at the UNCW Tennis Complex.

UNCW pushed its record to 11-5 overall and 5-0 in the CAA. The Camels, meanwhile, slid to 9-7 with the road loss and 0-2 in the league.

The Seahawks jumped in front by winning the doubles point as Gabe Hurtado and Trey Mallory cruised to a 6-1win on court three.

In singles, Campbell picked up victories on courts one through three, but the Seahawks earned win on four through six.

Mallory and Hurtado posted straight-set wins on courts five and four, respectively, to give UNCW a 3-1 lead.

Lukas Steffen drew the Camels to within 3-2, but Jordi Domenech won set three, 6-4, to secure the clinching point for UNCW on court six.

The Seahawks next host South Carolina State at 1 p.m. on April 7. UNCW will honor its seniors following the doubles point of the match.
