Seahawks Batter William & Mary To Win Series

UNCW posts season-highs of 18 runs and 18 hits

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Led by four-hit outings from Trevor Marsh and John Newton, UNCW posted season-highs of 18 runs and 18 hits on Sunday in a series-clinching 18-6 win over William & Mary at Plumeri Park.

The Seahawks won their 10th series of the season to up their record to 28-16 overall and 14-4 in the Coastal Athletic Association. The Tribe dropped to 26-18 and 9-9 in the league.

Six Seahawks finished with multi-hit games, including Jac Croom with three hits, including his seventh home run of the season, and a career-high four runs batted in. Brock Wills also knocked in four runs, all coming grand slam in a five-run first inning.

Both Marsh and Newton tied their career bests with four hits. Marsh also belted his 11th homer of the season.

Mason Murdock (1-1) earned the win in relief with a pair of hitless innings.

Luca Trigiani had a pair of hits, including a home run, for W&M and Joe Delosantos also added a home run, a three-run shot.

Brendan Kelly was charged with the loss, allowing five runs in the top of the first inning.

The Seahawks visit NC State on Apr. 30 for a 5 p.m. start at Doak Field.
