Croom Homers In 4-1 Loss At William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Jac Croom had two hits for UNCW, including his sixth home run of the season, but William & Mary would even the Coastal Athletic Association series on Saturday with a 4-1 win at Plumeri Park.

The Tribe snapped a six-game losing streak with the win and improved to 26-17 and 9-8 in the CAA. The Seahawks dropped to 27-16 and 13-4 in the league.

The Tribe struck for two runs in the bottom of the first to erase a 1-0 deficit. Ben Parker drew a one-out walk and Nick Goranson drew another walk, two batters later. Anthony Greco then lined a two-run double to right center that scored both baserunners for a 2-1 lead.

W&M starter Zack Potts (6-3) held the Seahawks in check, allowing a run on five hits and a walk over seven innings. Potts struck out six. Carter Lovasz earned the save, his fourth of the season.

Jacob Shafer (3-5) was saddled with the loss for UNCW after allowing four runs, two earned, over six innings of work.

The Seahawks committed four errors while the Tribe turned three double plays.

The series concludes on Sunday with a 1 p.m. start from Plumeri Park.
