Harry's Game Returns on Saturday

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Harry's Game, a charity men's soccer friendly to promote inclusion and acceptance for special needs children, returns on Saturday, Apr. 20, when UNCW battles Liberty at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

Gametime for the 10th Harry's Game will be at 6 p.m. with gates opening at 5 p.m. Admission to the game is $5 for adults and free for children 15 and under. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the gate.

A free pre-game children's soccer clinic will take place from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at the UNCW practice soccer field adjacent to the playing pitch. Fans will exit the clinic and present tickets at the soccer stadium's main entrance.

Proceeds from the exhibition go towards local charities that benefit children with special needs. Additional activities will include concessions, Sammy C. Hawk, bounce houses, face painting, and music. Free pizza for the children will also be available while it lasts.

A live and online auction will be ongoing during the game for special Under Armour Harry's Game jerseys worn by UNCW players. Fans may bid or purchase jerseys outright. Pickup will be available following Saturday's game.

Harry's Game is named after UNCW Head Coach Aidan Heaney's son, Harry, who was born with Down Syndrome. Like many families, the Heaney's didn't know what to expect having a child with Harry's kind of challenges but have learned different is not synonymous with worse in the case of a child with special needs.

The springtime staple was born out of a desire to shed the stigma around a child's limit to have fun and interact with others just because they may need a unique kind of help. It exists to showcase that any child's personality and joy exist beyond any obstacles they may face in dealing with a disability.

The Flames will be the first team outside of the state of North Carolina to participate in Harry's Game.

UNCW is 4-0-5 all-time in Harry's Game. The event concludes a six-game spring schedule for the Seahawks as they prepare for the 2024 season this fall.
