GREENSBORO, North Carolina – Freshman Madison Biddle's first career home run highlighted a two-RBI day as the UNCW softball team extended its win streak to six games with a 5-1 victory at North Carolina A&T on Saturday afternoon at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex.
The Seahawks jumped to 23-15 and 13-4 in the Coastal Athletic Association with their series-clinching win. The Lady Aggies dipped to 8-29 and 2-15 in the CAA.
Biddle, freshman Cassidy Relay and sophomore Carson Fleming each had two of UNCW's nine hits.
UNCW scored all its runs in each of the first four innings, including two in the first on a Mary Sobataka sacrifice fly and an N.C. A&T error.
Biddle drove home her first career run in the second on a single to left field. Sophomore Carson Fleming recorded her fifth RBI of the season on another single an inning later.
The Lady Aggies got on the board on an RBI single from Joey Barkhimer in the third, but Biddle erased the run in the fourth when she sent the fourth pitch of her at-bat over the right-center wall to make it 5-1.
Junior Kara Hammock (11-4) authored her ninth complete game while her seven strikeouts were two off her season-high.
N.C. A&T starter Amaya Kearse (1-6) was tagged for four runs and six hits in three innings.
The Seahawks will aim for their fourth conference sweep of 2024 when the series concludes on Sunday at noon.
