It's Thach Again As UNCW Rallies Past Hawks

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Tanner Thach continued his long ball exploits on Saturday with another blast, his fifth in three games, with a runner on to lift UNCW to a 3-2 win over Saint Joseph's at Brooks Field.

The Seahawks improved to 8-7 with the win and earned their third series win of the season. Saint Joseph's, meanwhile, dips to 5-7 with the road loss.

With the Seahawks trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth, Trevor Marsh singled through the left side with two outs to set the stage for Thach's heroics. The sophomore turned on a 1-1 offering and sent it over the wall in right for a 3-2 UNCW lead.

Marsh collected a pair of hits for UNCW in the pitching-dominated game.

Reliever Connor Kane (1-1) was credited with the win after striking out four over three innings of perfect relief. Kane combined with Ryan Calvert to allow just a pair of hits over five innings out of the bullpen.

Ryan Picollo had two hits for the Hawks, who plated single runs in the fourth and fifth innings for a 2-1 lead.

Luke Smith (0-2) was saddled with the loss in relief.

Starter Ryan DeSanto held UNCW to two hits and stuck out six in 5.1 innings.

The series concludes on Sunday with a 1 p.m. start.
