UNCW Outslugged By Boston College, 14-7

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Despite multi-homer run games from Trevor Marsh and Tanner Thatch, UNCW was on the wrong end of a 14-7 loss to visiting Boston College on Tuesday at Brooks Field.

The Eagles raised their record to 7-3 with the road win while the Seahawks slid to 6-7 overall and 5-4 at home.

UNCW jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run homer by Alec DeMartino, but the Eagles plated three in the second and five more in the third to take a commanding 8-2 lead and never looked back.

Boston College piled on 14 hits and drew 10 walks in the offensive explosion. Parker Lanwehr's three hits led BC, which collected five multi-hit games on the night. Cameron Leary homered twice.

Reliever Brian McMonagle (1-0) was credited with the win.

Marsh finished with three hits, including two home runs, DeMartino doubled and homered, and Thach added two homers.

Starter Cyle Phelan (0-2) walked five and was tagged for seven runs in 2.2 innings.

The Seahawks continue their homestand this weekend, beginning on Friday with the first of three games against Saint Joseph's. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
