Seahawks Fall to Pride, 6-0

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW softball team dropped a 6-0 result to visiting Hofstra in the second game of the three-game Coastal Athletic Association softball series at Boseman Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Pride elevated their record to 9-17 with a 7-4 CAA mark. UNCW fell to 17-14 and 8-3 in conference play.

Hofstra leadoff hitter Becca Vaillancourt collected three hits, scored twice and drove in a pair to lead the Pride. First baseman Aliya Catanzarita also recorded two RBI.

Senior left-hander Julia Apsel (8-5) tossed six scoreless innings with three strikeouts and three hits allowed in her second win of the series.

Junior right-hander Kara Hammock (9-4) scattered six hits and allowed two earned runs with three strikeouts in six innings.

The series concludes on Easter Sunday at Noon.
