Women's Tennis Handles Hampton, 6-1

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW snapped a three-match home losing streak on Thursday with a 6-1 romp over Coastal Athletic Association foe Hampton at the UNCW Tennis Complex.

The Seahawks ran their record to 7-3 on the season and 2-1 in the league. The Pirates, meanwhile, dropped to 7-5 and 0-2.

Eda Arli and Elif Albayrak clinched the doubles point for UNCW with a 7-6 (7-4) win on court one. Hampton posted a win on court three to take the early advantage in doubles, but Stela Joksimovic and Alecia Eberwein drew the Seahawks even with a 6-2 win on court two.

The Seahawks built a 3-0 lead with Lucia Gomez and Alex Borcich earning wins via retirement.

Katelyn Hubbard clinched the match at fourth singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win.

UNCW continues CAA play on Sunday with a 10 a.m. match in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., against the College of Charleston.
