Charlotte Slugs Its Way Past UNCW, 21-10

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNCW surrendered season-highs in runs and hits and Charlotte's Thad Ector homered three times as the 49ers won the series opener, 21-10, on Friday at Hayes Stadium.

The 49ers improved to 10-8 with the win while the Seahawks slipped to 9-9 and 1-4 on the road.

Ector scored five runs and knocked in five on his career-high three roundtrippers. Brandon Stahlman added three hits and drove in three.

John Newton, Alec DeMartino, Tanner Thach and Martin Zelenka all homered for UNCW. Newton and Kevin Novobilsky both collected two RBIs apiece.

Cole Reynolds was the beneficiary of Charlottes offense, earning the win and pushing his record to 3-1.

RJ Sales (3-1) took the loss, allowing a career-high nine runs in 1.1 innings.

The series continues Saturday with a 2 p.m. start.
