UNCW Drops 2023 Championship Final Rematch

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Alicia Eberwein and Lucia Gomez posted victories for the Seahawks but defending Coastal Athletic Association champion William & Mary knocked off UNCW, 5-2, in a rematch of the 2023 conference championship match.

The Tribe improved to 7-5 with the road win while the Seahawks dipped to 6-3.

Eberwein gave UNCW a win on court five, outlasting W&M's Emma Fernald, 1-6, 6-3, 10-8.

Gomez also won a marathon match in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 on court six over Francesca Davis of W&M.

The Tribe grabbed a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point on courts two and three.

UNCW hosts Hampton on Mar. 21.
