UNCW's Winning Streak Halted By St. John's

Red Storm edges UNCW, 4-3

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW saw its perfect start of the season come to a halt on Friday at St. John's rallied from a 3-0 deficit for a 4-3 win over the Seahawks at the UNCW Tennis Complex.

The Red Storm evened its record at 4-4 on the season while UNCW dropped to 4-1.

St. John's earned the win on court one when Mouna Bouzgarrou edged Eda Arli in a tiebreaker, 10-4, and won in three sets.

UNCW gained a 3-0 advantage following Stela Joksimovic's straight-set win at the number two singles.

St. John's began its rally with a straight-set win by Nicoline Sartz-Lunde over Elif Albayrak on court three and Alicia Gomez won on court four in three sets over Lucia Gomez.

Noemi Babikova tied the match on court five with a three-set victory over Gabbie Glickstein.

UNCW next hosts Coastal Carolina on Saturday at 2 p.m.
