BUIES CREEK, North Carolina – Redshirt freshman Taylor Henderson's fourth career 20-point effort paced the UNCW women's basketball team in the Seahawks' 77-57 road setback to Coastal Athletic Association rival Campbell at Gore Arena on Friday night.
The Fighting Camels increased their record to 12-9 with an even 5-5 league mark. The Seahawks, meanwhile, dipped to 4-17 with a 2-8 CAA record. The two teams split the season series.
Henderson's 20 points topped all scorers and marked her second 20-point game in CAA play. Freshman Kylah Silver added 10 points for the Seahawks.
Four Camels reached double figures led by sophomore Gianni Boone's 14 points. Joining the Washington, D.C., native in double-digits were Brittany Staves (12), Sarah Hammack Fitzgerald (12) and Christabel Ezumah.
Back-to-back three-pointers by Silver and Henderson made it 6-2 Seahawks with less than two minutes into the game. Campbell then scored 16 unanswered points to flip the advantage to 18-6 with 1:20 in the first period.
The Seahawks remain in the state on Sunday when they face Elon on the road at 1 p.m.
