UNCW Drops Key CAA Contest To Pride

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Darlinstone Dubar's 28 points led Hofstra to a key win in the Coastal Athletic Association standings as the Pride knocked off UNCW 69-58 on Thursday at Trask Coliseum.

The Pride (19-11, 12-5 CAA) moves into second with the win while the Seahawks (20-9, 11-6) drop back to fourth, tied with Towson.

The Seahawks grabbed a brief second-half lead, 47-45, with 10:08 remaining on a three-pointer by Shykeim Phillips. Hofstra, however, responded with a 16-1 run to grab a 61-48 lead with 5:13 left in the game. Dubar keyed the run with nine points.

Jaquan Carlos added 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting, grabbed six rebounds, and doled out five assists for the Pride, which shot 56.3% from the floor. Tyler Thomas chipped in 13 points.

Trazarien White led UNCW with 13 points and hauled in five rebounds. Phillips added 11 points and five assists.

Hofstra controlled the boards, 19-12, in building a 32-25 lead at the half.

The Seahawks host Towson on Mar. 2 at 2 p.m. on CBS Sportsnet to close out the regular season. The winner will receive a double bye in next week's conference tournament in Washington, DC.
