MBB Preview: Hofstra

It's a big game for both teams in their push for a double-bye at the CAA Tournament

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW closes out the regular season with a pair of home games beginning on Thursday with a 7 p.m. tip-off against rival Hofstra. Both teams are tied for second in the league and looking to earn a double-bye in the upcoming Coastal Athletic Association tournament.

The Seahawks (20-8, 11-5 CAA) have crafted a 9-1 record in Trask Coliseum and six of their seven home conference games have been sold out. Hofstra (18-11, 11-5), meanwhile, has won three straight but is 4-8 overall on the road this season.

UNCW dropped its last outing, a double-overtime thriller at Campbell, 105-100. Trazarien White poured in a career-high 38 points, coming up one point short of tying the program record set by Brian Rowsom in 1987 against East Carolina.

The Pride owns a 26-24 lead in the all-time series, which began in 2002 when it joined the CAA following a long run as a member of the America East.

Thursday's game will be streamed on FloHoops and 959thebreeze.com (audio only). Locally, WECT's Bounce Network (channel 6.2) will carry the game and 95.9 FM The Breeze will have it on the radio.
