Baseball Falls In 11 Innings To Liberty, 2-1

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Liberty pushed across an unearned run in the top of the 11th inning to edge UNCW, 2-1, at Brooks Field on Wednesday.

The Flames raised their record to 5-3 with their first road win while the Seahawks dropped to 5-4.

Camden Troyer drew a leadoff walk and stole second base. The throw to second sailed into center field and Troyer moved around to third. One batter later, Cam Foster lifted a fly ball to right for a sacrifice fly to score Troyer for a 2-1 lead.

The Seahawks put runners on second and third with one out but came up empty in their half of the 11th.

Aidan Sweatt had two hits for Liberty and Alec DeMartino collected two hits for UNCW.

Dylan Mathiesen (2-1) earned the win and Talor Grubbs the save, his first of the season.

UNCW reliever Connor Kane (0-1) took the loss.

The Seahawks visit South Alabama for three games this weekend beginning on Friday with a 7:30 p.m. EST start from Stanky Field.
