PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – Drexel used a 13-0 second-quarter run to break away from the UNCW women's basketball team 63-39 on Sunday afternoon at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
The Dragons swept the season series and moved to 12-13 with an even 7-7 Coastal Athletic Association record. The Seahawks exit the weekend at 5-20 and are 3-11 in the circuit.
Sophomore Mingaile Urmuleviciute led UNCW with 10 points while freshman Kylah Silver was one point short of a double-double with nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Drexel received a 16-point effort from graduate guard Brooke Mullin along with a 14-point performance by junior guard Amaris Barker.
Urmuleviciute's straightaway jumper made it 11-8 at the start of the third quarter. Four Drexel players then combined for 13 unanswered points that swelled the Dragons advantage to 24-8 with 2:15 left before eventually carrying a 26-12 lead into halftime.
UNCW begins its final homestand of the season with three straight games at Trask Coliseum starting on Friday, Mar. 1, vs. William & Mary.
