WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW pitchers combined for 19 strikeouts, but Princeton made the most of its nine hits as the Tigers clipped the Seahawks, 2-1, on Saturday at Brooks Field.

Both teams moved to .500 on the season with UNCW at 3-3 and Princeton going to 1-1.

Princeton struck for single runs in the third and fourth innings against Jacob Shafer (0-2), who took the loss despite striking out a career-high 10 batters over five innings.

Kelly Jordan collected three hits for the Tigers while Jake Bold and Jake Koonin each added two hits apiece.

Nick DiPietrantonio plated the first run with a two-out single in the third and Koonin made it 2-0 in the fourth with a RBI double.

John Newton had two hits for the Seahawks, who could muster just four hits on the day.

Justin Kim (1-0) earned the win for the Tigers. The righthander scattered three hits and allowed an unearned run.

Jacob Faulkner notched the save, pitching out of a bases-loaded, no-out situation in the Seahawk eighth with a pair of strikeouts sandwiched around a ground ball to third.
