UNCW Finishes Sweep Of Cougars With 80-74 Win

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Trazarien White's game-high 25 points, including 13 in the second half, led UNCW to a 80-74 win at Charleston to complete a home-and-home sweep of the defending Coastal Athletic Association champions on Thursday at TD Arena.

The Seahawks pushed their record to 6-3 in the league with the road win and 15-6 overall. The Cougars, who had a modest two-game winning streak halted, fell to 15-7 on the season and 6-3 in the league.

Joining White in double figures were Shykeim Phillips with 15 while Donovan Newby and Nolan Hodge chipped in 11 apiece. All 11 of Newby's points came in the second half as UNCW erased a three-point halftime deficit.

Kobe Rodgers led CofC with 20 points coming off the bench. Reyne Smith added 18 on the strength of four three-pointers.

CofC carried a 37-34 lead into halftime on a three-pointer by Rodgers with 44 seconds left in the half.

The Seahawks host conference newcomer and longtime rival Campbell on Feb. 3 at 7 pm.
