Women's Basketball Comes Up Short In Loss

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Taylor Henderson scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but UNCW came up short in a 70-66 loss to visiting West Georgia on Thursday in women's college basketball action at Trask Coliseum.

The Wolves pushed their record to 4-3 with the road win while the Seahawks dropped to 6-4.

Henderson's 18 points were a game high while Evan Miller chipped in 17 points and Jania Hall added 11.

Ali Zelaya hauled down 16 rebounds for the Seahawks.

UWG landed three in double-digit scoring led by Destiny Jones' 15 on 6-10 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 from the foul line. She rounded out a double-double effort with 10 rebounds and handed out a team-leading four assists.

The Wolves controlled the paint, outscoring UNCW, 50-26.

The Seahawks will be off during finals and return to action on Dec. 18 at Coastal Carolina.
