Seahawks Close Out Non-Conference Play Strong

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Five UNCW players reached double figures as the Seahawks closed out its men's basketball non-conference slate with a 99-47 victory vs. Spartanburg Methodist on Saturday afternoon at Trask Coliseum.

UNCW has won seven of its last eight games, including six straight at home, to close out non-conference play at 10-3. The game was considered an exhibition for the Pioneers.

UNCW junior Noah Ross finished with a career-high 20 points to go with nine rebounds. Joshua Corbin and Harlan Obioha each had 13 points with Obioha fashioning his first double-double of the season with 12 rebounds.

Sean Moore and Bo Montgomery each chipped in 10 points while Nolan Hodge set a career benchmark with 13 rebounds. All 11 Seahawks to play scored.

Seven different Seahawks had at least seven rebounds as UNCW set a school record for rebounds in a game with 72 boards. The Seahawks are one of five NCAA Division I schools to have 70 or more boards in a game this season.

UNCW led 46-17 at halftime and by as many as 59 points (92-33 with 5:14 left in the second half) en route to the win.

The Seahawks open Coastal Athletic Association play vs. Towson on Thursday at 7 p.m. The CAA opener will be aired locally on Fox Wilmington as well as on FloCollege.

GAME NOTES: UNCW and Charleston finished tied with the most non-conference wins (10) by a league school this season … The Seahawks scored 53 points in the second half … UNCW held a 50-14 advantage on points in the paint … Shane Anthony scored eight points, including a pair of three-pointers, in his college debut … UNCW has led all of its last three games ... Bryan Bayonne had 21 points for SMC.
