WASHINGTON, D.C. – Redshirt junior forward Khamari McGriff scored a career-high 34 points in UNCW's 88-83 setback at Howard in non-conference men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Burr Gymnasium.
The Bisons (5-6) snapped the Seahawks' (7-3) season-high four-game win streak. UNCW next begins a five-game homestand on Wednesday at 7 p.m. vs. Florida Gulf Coast.
McGriff made his first 14 attempts from the floor and was joined in double figures by Sean Moore's 13 points and Harlan Obioha's 12 points.
The Bisons' Marcus Dockery's team-high 27 points was one of four Howard players in double-digits scoring along with Joshua Strong and Blake Harper, who each had 18 points and Cameron Shockley-Okeke's 12 points off the bench.
Howard, who shot 8-of-14 from three-point range in the opening period, led by as many as 12 points in the first half and carried a 45-40 advantage into the intermission that would prove the difference with each team scoring 43 points in the second half.
GAME STATS: UNCW played at Howard for the first time since 1981 and the schools met for the first time in seven seasons ….
